Zero-waste yogurt: 5 simple ideas that are good for your wallet and the planet

Zero-waste yogurt: 5 simple ideas that are good for your wallet and the planet

Why yogurt is a waste-reducing champion

It’s cheap, versatile, and can be transformed in a thousand ways. Yet, some of it often ends up in the trash. Here are 5 ideas to avoid throwing anything away.

5 Ideas

1. 60-Second Dip. 1 tablespoon yogurt + oil + salt + chopped herbs (dill, mint). Perfect for vegetables, grains, and grilled foods.
2. Strained Spread. Place the yogurt in a lined strainer for 30–60 minutes: it becomes creamy. The drained whey is a resource, not a waste.
3. Magic Whey. Use it to soften dough (pancakes, muffins), marinate chicken, or refresh sourdough starter.
4. Jar-Saving Breakfast. Leftover half a jar? Add dried fruit and honey: ready in 30 seconds.
5. Forget-It-Yourself Labels. Mark each jar with the day and time it was opened: you’ll use the ones you need first.

A routine that lasts

The key is to create a mini-routine: on Sunday, prepare two basic sauces, and alternate them during the week. In 1 minute, you can solve a side dish and save a meal.
