Edutainment lesson on Agricultural biodiversity
Why it’s important for our future
In this new lesson dedicated to the Green Agritainment project, we explore one of the most important issues for the future of European rural areas: the protection of agricultural biodiversity.
During the activity, participants can discover in a practical and engaging way the importance of native seeds, traditional crops, and ancient agricultural techniques that are slowly disappearing.
Through a guided tour, the trainers demonstrate how to recognize different varieties of grain, legumes, and aromatic plants, explaining their characteristics, cultivation methods, and their historical and gastronomic value.
The lesson includes moments of direct observation, small experiments, sensory activities, and stories of rural tradition.
This approach, typical of edutainment, makes learning more lively and stimulating, helping students and trainers understand the profound connection between agriculture, local culture, and sustainability.
This project is part of the Erasmus+ Green Agritainment Project: VET strategies for edutainment in European agritourism. 2024-1-IE01-KA220-VET-000254134. The project continues to promote immersive experiences that enhance Europe’s rural heritage, conveying knowledge through emotion, participation, and contact with nature.
If you’re a VET Trainer, manage an agritourism business, or run a farm, learn how to use edutainment on farms with other experiences like this, practical exercises, and training for trainers.
